What is Chi Kung Exercise & Therapy?
CHI KUNG EXERCISE- (QiGong,) is an ancient Chinese exercise system often called Chinese Yoga. Translated into English
it would be 'Breathing Therapeutic Exercise' or 'Energy Work'. In Chi Kung exercise it is
essential for the breath to synchronize with
the movements. The movements are performed slowly, gently, and rhythmically, allowing for a deep relaxing breath.
The exercises open up pathways throughout the body allowing 'Chi' or vital energy also known as Life Force to flow
and release blockages. These simple exercises are used in China to maintain health and cure innumerable illnesses and
diseases. There are many different sets of Chi Kung such as: T'ai Chi Chi Kung, Medical Chi Kung, Soaring Crane
Chi Kung, and innumerable others. Chi Kung can be performed as a set or individually depending on time and need.
Each exercise is done in a specific number of repetitions. The goal is to increase energy flow and find tranquility
within. The beauty of these exercises is: there is memorization involved only
if you wish to. Simply follow the instructor through the easy exercises which help improve your flexibility,
endurance, co-ordination, strength, and balance. Your mind will relax and unwind from a stressful day. Your breath
will deepen and your body will fully energize. The internal organs receive a gentle massage through your deep breath.
You will appear years younger. Unlike Yoga one does not need to get on the floor to perform these exercises. One can do them very
well sitting in chairs and even wheelchairs. Most people practice these exercises in a standing position and even moving. You will never
get bored with these exercises as you can progress to deeper levels with meditation and visualization.
CHI KUNG THERAPY-Chi Kung Therapy is based on Traditional
Chinese Medicine linking the body and the mind. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the essence or energy is called 'Chi'
also known as 'Ki' in Japan and 'Prana' in India. This 'Chi' flows through pathways in the body
called Meridians. When the chi gets stuck or blocked it can cause pain, illness, disease or emotional upset. Acupuncture
helps to remove these blockages using needles. They can also be removed with Chi Kung Therapy. Working together
as a team the patient and therapist help to balance the body's energy systems. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the
mind and body are inseparable therefore as we create our own illnesses and diseases through stress we also have the power
to cure them. I will work with you to help remove the blockages in the body which create illness and pain.
This is done through many techniques such as hands on energy transference, exercises, visualizations, and sounds, to name
a few. Emotions are an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and many times they will reveal imbalances
in the organ systems as well as with specific organs. An example of this would be the feeling of anger,
which is the negative emotion that comes from the liver. This would tell you that you have an imbalance or blockage
in the liver meridian that needs to be corrected. Therefore, we would work on developing the emotion of kindness which
is the positive emotion for the liver to help balance out the liver meridian along with other techniques. Once these imbalances
are corrected the person feels a renewed energy that sometimes has not been felt for years. Another procedure is similar
to Reiki a Japanese form of hands on healing using energy transference. We begin with a number of questions to
help determine where the blockage is then progress in a direction that is best suited to your needs. People keep saying
we need to heal the world and this is so true, however we can't heal the world until we learn to heal ourselves.
It is a ripple effect, similar to tossing a pebble into the water. If you learn to just balance yourself today, just
one day, and you feel better because of it, you will pass it on to the people closest to you, and they too will pass it on
to friends, co-workers and people they pass in the street or come into contact with. Energy is everywhere. This
does not mean you will never get sick or suffer from a glitch in the system. What it does mean is that you can begin
to take healing into your own hands and work as a partner with your health care professional to correct these imbalances.
Healing should not be a passive therapy where you put yourself in another person's hands to be healed but rather a proactive
therapy. Proactive meaning you should take the tools you need for healing to begin and then use them each and everyday
so that you can bring yourself into central equilibrium. For further information on Chi Kung Therapy contact Randie
