Director-Randie Lynn Hughes

Randie Lynn Hughes Biography:

Randie is a Physical Therapist Assistant, T'ai Chi Instructor and QiGong Therapist.

Randie was introduced to T'ai Chi in 1973.  She began seriously studying T'ai Chi in 1987 with a man she met from China.   In 1988 Randie met and became a student of Master Daniel Lee .  Randie received Traditional Chinese Blessings to teach Traditional Yang Style T'ai Chi by her instructor Master Daniel Lee.  She is also a certified instructor of T'ai Chi for Arthritis, which was created by Dr. Paul Lam.   She has taught T'ai Chi & Chi Kung since 1989 at her own school as well as many Medical Facilities and community locations. 

 With her deep interest in the Subject of T'ai Chi,  Chi Kung (QiGong), Traditional Chinese Medicine and Physical Therapy she has attended many seminars below are a list of some of the seminars she has attended:

 There are many other seminars Randie has attended, too numerable to mention here.   I would like to thank the Late Master Jou Tsung Hua  as well as Pat Rice of 'A Taste of China', for making it possible to attend so many seminars by T'ai Chi and Chi Kung Masters with their effort in bringing the Masters together in one place for the education of the whole community.

 

Randies interest in T'ai Chi lead her to attend college and receive her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  She applies this knowledge to her T'ai Chi classes.  She presented at the 2008 New York State Fair for the 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention' on Preventing Falls in older adults.   Falls can lead to Traumatic Brain Injuries & hip fractures due to balance problems therefore this is an integral part of Randies T'ai Chi program.   

 

Randie began her Martial Arts training at age 15 in the Kempo style of Karate.  She later went on to learn the Go-Ju Ryu style of karate.  In 1989-1990 she assisted her teacher Greg Tearney as a student working as an assistant trainer teaching Karate to the Syracuse University Football Team.  In 1992 she became a certified Black Belt, under Renshi James Coker.  She has received a Certificate of Achievement by Grand Master Frank Van Lenten for her 1st degree Black Belt.   She is also an Amateur Athletic Union Judge.  Randie has over 35 years of combined martial arts experience. 

 

Randie has a special interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine.    She is also Certified in Reiki and Therapeutic Touch. 

 

 

Our Staff

We have an experienced and dedicated group of teachers.  Each teacher strives to create a supportive atmosphere to encourage students to participate. All instructors at our school are expected to uphold the Spirit that Daniel Lee has passed down to Randie and to convey the true teachings of T'ai Chi Chu'an.

Master Daniel Lees Biography

Master Daniel Lee was born in Shanghai, China. He began his Martial Arts training at the age of 10.  At the age of 13, he started western boxing training and with many years of diligent practice he captured the all China welterweight boxing championship in 1948.

 

Dans continued interest in the Martial Arts has earned him a brown belt in Judo and a Black Belt in Kempo Karate.  In 1966, he had the opportunity to study Internal Art with Master Tung Fu-ling a fifth generation Master in the Traditional Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan.  In 1967 Dan studied Jeet Kune Do with the late Bruce Lee and became one of Bruce's first students.  To further advance his skills, he has made numerous trips to China and studied with several Masters in T'ai Chi Chuan, weapons, and Chi Kung.  Fluent in Chinese, Dan continues his study in the theory and practice of combat skills from original manuscripts.

 

In 1989, Dan received the "Man of the Year" award from Black Belt Magazine for his 20 years of continuing efforts of promoting the Art of T'ai Chi Chuan and upholding the true Spirit of Martial Arts in the United States.
